Just curious, but how did u get to schedule your exam? My status says schedule, but won't let me pick a date... Just want to get it done. Do not want to miss this process

I actually received an email from Detroit's HR dept that scheduled my test. I did not get to choose my date.

It was assigned. Like you, my online status changed to "schedule" sometime over the past 2 days, but there was never an option to self-schedule. I'm sure you'll be hearing something soon.

With an immediate 25% wash out rate the odds are looking better and better. Good luck everyone
This is unprecedented. I've never seen such good odds for any department, let alone for a major city that doesn't require any certifications to apply. Heck, even FD's that require medic don't hire at a 1:15 ratio.

I recieved my examination date. For those of you who have already taken the test...what were you instructed to do after you completed the test? Any paperwork you need to turn in, or are they waiting to test everyone before accepting CPAT's, etc.

We were told prior to taking the exam that the scores would be emailed to us. If we needed information on taking the CPAT through DFD, we could go down the hall to another room to inquire about CPAT info.. They did not collect any CPAT's as of yet.

I'm an out of state applicant and my test is scheduled for November 19th. Any idea if we can do our cpat out of state? Or would I have to fly back to take it in Detroit?

I just scheduled my CPAT with DFD for next Tuesday. If you were put on the waiting list, they should call you soon...

Did they let you sign up for the CPAT without your written results? Because I have not gotten mine yet.

Got my test date for 12-2-2013.

CPAT already done, I submitted it with my application as a document. What sort of things are on the written for those that have taken it already?

    Thanks and good luck

Written exam is this Monday and I'm too excited! I am also wondering whats on the written test, how should we dress and how long does the test take? I'm getting out of work for a little bit and my boss would like to know when I will be in.

I don't mean to offend anyone but from here on out we are competitors. So to ask for information about the written test, what kind of things you should be doing, what to wear to the test and / or interview, these are things that you should have been preparing for this entire time like most of us have. Study your material, business attire, and keep a level head and you all will do great. Good luck!

I just received an e-mail advising that I successfully completed the written exam. It also included a list of documents that must be submitted to the city by February 7.

Yep! Just got my email too. Sounds like this is going to be a lengthy process so everyone just continue to have patience. Good luck to you all!

probably not, especially in michigan where i live most departments require you to have FF1 FF11 and medic before even putting in an app, which you pay for. which means people like me already have ff11 and emt and working towards medic . Which plenty of applicants in michigan have as well sense we all know to get a job as a ff in mi you need medic, most of us are already trainined. I know we still have to go through the academy but still looks good on a app and in oral boards.

There are going to hire home grown before any out o staters. And no offense to out of staters, but chances are slim to none.

Ok, and why is that? I hope no one listens to your advice!
