Default Advice needed on extra points in hireing proccess

I need some advice. I recently received my results from a hireing proccess I completed. The years of experience I recieved extra points for was wrong and potentially cost me 4 extra points because I have more years than they gave me points for. What should I do? The list is made and I received my rank on that list. Should I call them and explain or just let it go. My only consern is that 4 points is a lot in these processes and could potentially cost me a position with the department.

so would the points bump you up the list that much??

in other words is there a possibly of you being hired if you move up?

I'm not sure how much those points would bump me up the list. I know the number of openings they plan to fill and I am potentially 4 spots away from being guaranteed an offer.

Yes that close I would politely ask the question on how your years were calculated

I would try to do face to face if they will do that

I agree. Follow up and make it right. Often times the testing is done through HR, not through the fire department. There may be some type of time frame for which you can file an appeal. It is usually not very long so time is of the essence.

If you are geographically far from the Municipality, I would send a registered letter/return receipt explaining your concern and inquiring of the possibility of an appeal. Politely and respectfully request a reply in writing, that way everything is memorialized on paper. 4 positions is too close, every point counts, especially if HR needs a tie-breaker between you and someone else.
