Smile Can You Be Involved With The Explorer Program If Your Are Under 14?

Hey guys, I have a quick question here. See, here's the problem. I am too young for explorers but my neighbor is a ff with that department and he knows the Battalion Chief that runs explorers. Are there any people in your explorer programs that are too young but just help out at the explorer meets? I highly anticipate joining explorers and getting active with the local department. I can't wait to hear your answers!

Fire49 is right, just ask! If you feel intimidated asking the brass, talk with your neighbor. Unfortunately we can't talk much about specific entry level requirements because some departments may be more lax than others. The explorers program for both law enforcement and fire falls under the umbrella of the Boy Scouts which requires explorers to be 14 to join, but that doesn't mean you can't attend meetings and the like if you're 12 or 13.

My understanding is the BSA has a new Juniors program for kids under 14, if your department choses to have such a program.
