Default Well let's see how you make this topic controversial...

Is anyone going to hear Ray McCormack speak in Michigan next weekend?

I am making the trip up there to hear him and maybe buff a Detroit station or 2 if I have the time.

What sort of functions does the LT. speak at? Is it always training forums or does he speak at conventions as well?
I would like to get my entire state to FDIC, but a lot of them wont even come to training.
I'm just wondering what my options would be for lining up something to give the fellas a shot in the arm.

I felt a lot different about my role as firefighter after I watched the FDIC video.

I think Lt. McCormack's series of engine ops would be very helpful to small depts. in my state. Most of us don't have a truck anyhow.

I am not sure who is sponsoring this event. It is at a community college and the contact is a Detroit firefighter.

    Nope, too far away.

Attended a 2-day seminar with Lasky and Salka a couple of weekends ago.

Best part was it was sponsored by TEEX and was free.

Salka is not really my cup of tea, but I love Lasky. I'm still ticked about of Salka's comments and his general attitude regarding the transitional fire attack.

Michigan Fire Service Instructors Association appears to be the sponsor.

Macomb County is just north of Detroit.

Steve, the Detroit firefighter setting up the seminar, is a friend of Ray's, they teach together at FDIC. Steve is in my Fire Staff and Command Class at Eastern Michigan University, and Ray is coming to speak at our graduation on Friday night. The speaking engagement on Saturday was set up to help pay Ray's expenses for coming to town.

FyredUp, if you want to meet face to face, pm me and I'll let you know the details. I heard someone from Wisconsin signed up, small world.

Well, due to my wife being in the hospital I am not going to make it to see Ray McCormack...But there will be another time.

Some sort of neurological event that caused some very weird symptoms, she is pretty much back to normal but I would feel very weird about leaving her home alone for essentially 2 days.

Too true, and despite her insistence that I go anways, there was just no freaking way.

She is back home now and just needs to relax and recoup.
