Default 1982 Pierce Arrow air brake dryer desiccant

See attached photo - a mechanic told me that this is the air brake dryer but that it's a type he hasn't seen before.

He said that I need to change the desiccant cartridge that is inside it because it's not absorbing/drying water like it should.

Does anyone know what type of air dryer this is and how to service it?

    Thanks!

Looks like a pretty standard Bendix to me. If your mechanic does not know what a timing light is, or does not know how to diagnose a problem WITHOUT using a laptop or code reader, get rid of him.

Get under there with a steam cleaner or a can of brake cleaner, give it a good bath find the tag or casting or model number on it somewhere- take a pic of the numbers. Go to the local truck parts counter and they probably have them available by the pallet.
