Default How many days should i go to the firehouse?

How many days a week should a junior volunteer go to the firehouse? I'm turning 18 in 1 month and I got all of my gear already. I go to all the calls I can make it too but I don't know how many days I should go to the firehouse..

I'd go at least once a week, but go as often as you'd like. The more you're exposed to the environment, the more you'll learn.

I'll second what BoxAlarm said. Once a week is probably a good minimum. Keep in mind that school and/or work come first. Family time also has to be taken into account. Depending on how your department operates, there may also be weeks that you spend more than 1 night a week at the station if training is going on, or a special drill or meeting.

The main thing is don't go to just hang out, make your time count. Is their a special day/time that the guys wash the trucks? If not,And if the trucks need washing ASK an officer if he will oversee you washing one. say some hose needs recoupling - again ASK if someone will meet with you on their schedule and show you how its done. The main thing to remember is the older members will not be as fired up as you are , so --be eager to learn, but don't be a pest.
