So in this week of thanksgiving, let us pause for a moment
Um, Devin? Devin? Hm, the name seems vaguely familiar...

Sung to the tune of "Heaven", by Bryan Adams

Oh, thinkin' about my younger days
Moving up to a Minitor 3
    Installing lots of LED's

Now the forums are where I’m gonna be
They've been down this road before
    And old FyredUp
    Says I don’t need a radio

And Walkie, you're all that I want
When you're hangin' here on my belt
You’re findin' it hard to believe
    You’re with Devin

Programming is all that I need
And I found it there in the barn
It isn't too hard to see
    You’re with Devin

Oh - once in your life you’re with someone
Who will turn your clip around
Turn you up when it’s goin' down

Yeah - nothin' could change your frequency
Oh there's lots that I could say
    But I’ll hold you now
    Cause I’ll say that I’m 10-8

And Walkie, you're all that I want
When you're hangin' here on my belt
You’re findin' it hard to believe
    You’re with Devin

Permission is all that I need
And I found it with a white hat
It isn't too hard to see
    You’re with Devin

I've been waitin' for so long
    For somethin' small and black
    For tones to come along

    Now the traffic’s comin' through
Through the speaker on your face
Yeah - I'll be standin' there by you

And baby, you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
    We're in heaven

A thumb is all that I need
And I press it there on your side
It isn't too hard to speak
    You’re with Devin, Devin, oooh

    You're all that I want
    You're all that I need

After basic they taught me how to maintain equipment on which people's lives depended.

We seem to think that we can run an 18 YO through some military training and turn him or her into a fighting machine defending our country or another military skill, but that we can't do that with a firefighter.
Opinions my own. Standard disclaimers apply.

Yes. Yes I do. Helps if I know the song, though, so don't give me a Blue Cheer B-side from 1969.

I can't remember the name of the song but this came to mind for me!

Oh where oh where can my radio be?
The chief took it away from me,
Its gone to Devin so I got to be good,
So I can have a radio like I know I should!

Last kiss by pearl jam. The band I'm in slings this one out once in a while. I might have to suggest a lyric change for Friday night! I like Fyred's version better!

The chief took it away from me,
Its gone to Devin so I got to be good,
So I can have a radio like I know I should!

We were working a fire late one night,
When my eyes took in an awful sight,
Out of a window popped Devin's head,
I'll never forget the words he said.

Oh why oh why won't the chief talk to me?
I must have programmed the wrong frquency.
Devin's eyes were wide like a deer in the headlights,
I thought I heard him mutter the guys at firehouse were right.
If I get a little experience and some time on the job,
Perhaps I won't come off as such a knob!

    Is this the real life?
    Does Chief even see me?
    I've got a problem,
    No radio given to me.

    Open your eyes,
Look up to the skies and see,
I'm just a poor boy, no Motorola for me,
Because chief won't give, a radio
    Volume high, squelch down low.
Wish I had a radio every time the pager goes beep beep, beep beep.

    Captain, just give me one.
Tell the chief that he is wrong.
Hell I've even take an Icom.
Captain, my life is empty now.
I just have to have that cool black radio.

    Captain, commmeeee onnnnnnnnnn.
Didn't me to make a fuss,
I need the radio when I'm on the bus.
I can't look cool without the radio.

Too late, I bought my own.
    Sent shivers down my spine,
    Hard-on raging all the time.
Hello, County Fire, I've got one now.
Gonna talk alot without saying much.

    Captain, looooooooook (at my radio)
    I just bought my own.
I just wish I'd have done this from the start.

I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Fyredup, fyredup, why can't I have a radio?
    Flashing lights and sirens,
    Is very exciting me.
    (Fyredup)Fyredup
    (Fyredup)Fyredup
    Fyredup, hey guess what
    F*ck you bro.

I'm just a vollie, sc doesn't like me
He's just a vollie, from a poor family.
Spare him the grief, let him buy a radio.

Money comes, money goes, I just bought a radio!
    Fyredup, hey f*ck you bro!
Chief let me, program my radio!
    F*ck you bro,
    Programmed radio
(Chief said I could program my radi-)OH
    Ra-di-o, ra-eh-di-oh
Oh Captain Captain, Fyredup, f*ck you bro.
I bought my own radio, programmed it and I'm good to go, f*ck you bro.

So you think you can mock me, and tell me no,
Well guess what bro, I got my radio.
Spent my cash on something I didn't need.
But now how cool do I look with my radio and tweed.

    It don't matter any mo'
    Cuz I got my radio.
    No don't matter any mo,
    I programmed my radio.

    Now I talk relentlessly...
