Why not ask the chief of your department. His opinion counts more than us guys here.

If the chief allows it, go with your company #. Single and double digits look good. 4 digits.....not so much. Just my opinion. Our dept issues shields with the tin Maltese cross in the middle, but a lot of us have gone to company shields. It shows company pride.

I like fronts with the least amount of banners and numbers on them. All the fronts I have are Company number, with one banner at the top saying department name or just the company number with nothing else. Keep it simple and clean is my opinion.

    You should:

-Do what your Department SOP's, SOG's, Operational or Administrative Practices, Rules and Regulations or Chief's Directives prescribe in this situation.

-Not come onto an International Forum with people from across the world who know nothing of your Department SOP's, SOG's, Operational or Administrative Practices, Rules and Regulations or Chief's Directives and ask them what to do.

Sounds like your department needs to adopt an SOP regarding exactly what a helmet front should look like.

Departmental uniformity in the fire service is a very good thing.
