Fire Prevention Week 2013 has past. What were the successes and issues you faced this year?

Haven't had any fires since....so I guess it was a success!

Just an idea but talk with your local community services department in your community. In our community the county had a Senior Citizens "department" that ran and coordinated programs for seniors, AND had existing relationships with other entities in the community that worked with these older adults.

By getting integrated with these organizations we were regular visitors/presenters at their programs. Rapport was developed and our smoke detectors program was off an running. We also maintained a list of the senior citizens in whose house we installed the detectors and called them once a year to ask if we could "check them" to make sure they were functional. This got us back in their home to assess for fire prevention/health/safety issues, keep the rapport going, and just a good community personal service.

    It's all about developing rapport....
