Does anyone know if they will be accepting CPAT certificates from the last year?

Seriously doubt it. Their process always starts over fresh each year.

To my knowledge, they do not. You must go through their full process each year, written test and CPAT. They do not accept outside CPAT certs (unless something has changed)

I applied from California and I just got the notice saying I was invited to the written test. Does anyone know how many they are planning to hire for an academy? I've been testing all over CA for the past few years and some people told me I should attempt to apply out of state. In the past has Charlotte hired out of state applicants or have they given favor to NC applicants? Thanks/good luck on the test guys.

I'm testing from out of state as well. A few of the people I volunteered with in college are on the job down there. All of those guys are from New England so I don't think its super important to be from NC.

I will be coming from Miami, FL to test. I hear NC is a nice place to live... Best of luck to everyone.

I was planing on coming up from N Fla to test. I love the NC area. Unfortunatly I'm in the last phase of medic school and I just found out I have a mandatory clinical for school that same day. So sadly it doesn't look like I can make it up this time.

What has been the average amount of recruits to apply in the past few years? Would definitely like to get an insight on how many applicants normally apply.

Looking for the same info. Also, Fairfax is testing on the same day. Anyone else facing that dilemma?

Fairfax usually hires a significantly higher amount of people. They also have the best USAR teams in the nation(only 1 of 2 in the US that will go over seas) if that's something you're into.

Typically it's been between 1200-2000 people who apply every year and they hire two classes of 15 a year on average. There has been some rumors that they may not hire as many this year due to the possibility of losing the airport. That's just the rumor that's been floating around the last few months so I'm not really sure how much water that story holds.
Every year there always seems to be a new rumor about what they are looking to do hiring wise as last years rumor was they weren't going to hire any out of state applicants but I believe there were a handful hired last year from out of state. It's just best to take the test and hope the odds are in your favor and you move along the process and get an offer at the end. Charlotte is a highly desired department and getting hired isn't easy.

Good luck, everyone. I'll be there Saturday. Fortunately no long drive for me.
