Gotta pace ourselves. This is more like a marathon than a sprint. How many months does everyone think it will be before we start hearing anything this time?

Are you saying you are still holding out on a 2012 application?

Hope you were paying attention in class when I taught the Alternative Funding section. LOL Time to fire up the fund raising machine!

I will have an eggnog. But only if it is the good stuff. you know when you finish the glass and it still looks full because it sticks to the sides that well.

Oh we already fundraise but we make like $200 each time not much for a lot of work. Were a small rural community we no business or town and most are poverty level so its hard but we do try.

We too are a small department with a budget of about $6000, all of which is done on fundraisers. Our situation is very similar to yours, 3 businesses in town (2 of which are bars). Here are a couple ideas we use:
1 - Monday night Football books makes us about $1000
2 - Benefit supper which includes a raffle, we have steaks catered and we do beverages. makes us about $4000
3 - Run a concession stand at a weekend softball tournament. Makes us anywhere from $1000-$2000

These are listed from least amount of work to most. Could make more on the supper but we get a pretty good deal from the caterer - pretty much cost (they get the advertisement and we all get good food) PM me if you need or want any additional info on how we handle any of these.

    Default watering hole?

Let me first start out by saying Good Luck to all departments here! I know the watering hole sucks, but honestly its a little comforting knowing how many other departments have guys just like me chomping at the bit for an award....probably most of us depend on them! This forum has actually been so much help to me as far as grant writing goes! The worst part---I refer to this as the brown hole....because I usually crap my pants when the first word of 1199a comes out!!! Again, best of luck to all parties involved!

I bailed out South out of Indianapolis last Saturday so have to blame someone else but, sure needed a shot or two once home to get warmed back up. Headed for 76 degrees today.
