In college I went all the to calculus. Forgot so much but from previous exams I remember there's basic algebra. I'm just curious to know if theres some math material out there that is fire exam specific. I wasn't really bad at it but I know I didn't like it.

I too took calculus in college (cal 2 as far as I was willing to go). I really do not think that anything involving differentials and integration would be applicable to such a large diverse population of people taking the exam. Not everyone had to take calculus but I'm guessing majority of people at least took algebra in high school or college. So perhaps just basic math with some very fundamental algebra is all that your in store for.

Nothing to crazy.. Basic math with simple algebra.. Ie solving for an unknown...

    Know division, addition, multiplication...
How to turn fractions into decimals and vise versa
How to convert numbers to percentage.

How to find a percent of something. Ie. 25 is what percent of 100
Or some thing cost 200 but is on sale for 27% off! how much does it cost...
Or you paid x amount for something that cost this much, what percent did u get off..

    The unknowns are like...
You can clean 10 windows in 10mims, how long does it take you and a friend to clean then same windows..

Also, learn how to figure how long a fire truck takes to travel x amount given different info
Like.. A fire is. 5 miles away, your driving 35 mph, how long to get there
Or it takes 7 mins to reach a fire, how far was it from the station..

    Have fun.

USAFfiredog is absolutely correct. I absolutely suck at math. I know everyone says that but it's just something I can't grasp. How I prepared is I Google searched How to do long division/multiplication/percentages/fractions. Printed off all the step by step instructions and just did a bunch of math problems I made up. I took a test recently that was 120 questions with 30 math questions. We had an hour and a half. It took me an hour to do those 30 and I still got a 91 on the exam. All of those topics he just listed are what you will encounter. You only get into more complicated math if you become an engineer and have to do friction loss and flow chart calculations. Good luck!
