Fort AP Hill protects a large facility. I coordinated some live burns with them for a few months ago, and it took us probably 15-17 minutes to get from the main firehouse to their burn building using base roadway with no traffic.

They're in the process of opening another station, and they have pretty good staffing. They provide fire, EMS, ARFF, and hazmat services, and will sometimes respond off-base with the local combination fire companies.

Do they only have one station? 24/24? Asking for info because I'm in the hiring process for them. And google doesnt give a whole lot of info.

Has anyone been through their hiring process?

Don't quote me on this, but I believe they're 48/72 and have two or three stations.

I did fed work at navy and air force bases, but not army, but many years ago. Some are behind the times, but it looks like they run off base, so may be ahead of other fed bases.

I got tried of working 72 hour weeks and not getting paid for it, along with seeing the city departments working 56 hour weeks.

Army may be a little different in that they are not focused mainly on flying.

And if they are fire prevention focused like navy and air force, you may not have many fires on base.

good luck, maybe put in a couple years and test for city department
