Default Using Microsoft Access For a Dispatch Log

I try to maintain a dispatch log in an excel document so at the end of every month I can post run stats and some figures, as well as a end of the year report. I've been playing in Microsoft Access lately and realize it is much more powerful then Excel. Does anyone have any experience? Obviously my application does not use Access to the fullest, but It could make my job easier once the Access Program is complete.
