Default Where can I find a video of the Hackensack Ford fire from 1988?

This video seems to be scarcer than hen's teeth. Does anyone have any ideas?

As long as I am asking...how about a copy of the UL / NIST study, with the FDNY?

I thought it was like earlier this year or last year. The one where transitional attack was part of the study.

I think I've got a copy of a copy of a copy of the Hackensack incident. Not sure where it is, though, and it would have to be converted to digital.

Would American Heat Training Videos from that era, have it? You can check with fire dept's, training academies or other fire service related agencies, that could possibly still have those videos in their training library?

Checked NIST and UL sites. Couldn't find a real good synopsis. The link below is for a 40 minute presentation that gives a good breakdown. It comes from the live burns that were done in NYC during the summer of 2012. Real furnishings and real housing was used.

There is also the nearly 2 hour FDIC version that is also available on youtube. I'd go with the shorter version.

    Thanks everyone.

I will contact my tech college and see if we have the American Heat tape on hackensack Ford.

Also thanks for the info finding the FDNY fire attack studies.

Found the tape. It's got a local documentary on the incident as well as a lot of raw video.

Now I just have to figure out exactly how long it is and how/where to get it into digits.

I watched a video today about the fire but it was kind of a documentary from a news outfit. It was only fifteen mins. long, so probably not what you wanted. I would be interested in what you come up with tree, we just had a training on bow string trusses and would love to have a video to show.

That may be the news piece at the beginning of my tape.

Ran it just now. The documentary part is about 18 minutes (probably aired at 30, with commercials).

The raw video is nearly a half hour, shot by a firefighter from a nearby department. There are some spots where it didn't copy over well, but it's still worth watching. The documentary used a lot of his footage.

There's also video on that particular tape of a major fire in Cohoes, NY. A block fire, as a matter of fact, and you can watch some of the progression as it eats through several buildings.

Whoever originally cut the tape then included a lot of local news clips for fires here. Some real blasts from the past - folks I know from around the county. I even managed to get into a few of them.

As noted, I'm working on getting it cut over to digits, then we'll sort out how to proceed.

Try contacting the National Fire Academy's "Publications" office. They had many CD's of videos and studies on hand and I believe the one FDNY video you are searching for may still be in stock. When I was there this past September they were purging their current inventory of older videos. I don't recall if they had anything on the Hackensack, NJ fire.

    Default Hackensack Ford

My tape is currently at a local TV station which will be dumping it over to digits for me. Once I get it back, I'll see what I can do with it.
