    Default Is it worth trying?

I'm feeling a bit discouraged after reading some posts. I've experienced with marijuana, ecstasy, and cocaine in the past. Was never convicted or addicted to these drugs. I did the latter drug once a year ago before I knew firefighting was something I'd become passionate about. If I took a drug test I'd be clean. Drugs are something that I've never been attached too. I plan on going the rest of my life without them. The only thing that's on my record would be a reckless driving charge 7 years ago.
I'm scheduled to start fire certification classes in March and my fear is me spending all this money and time for something that is not there. Should I give up? If you guys were in my shoes what would you do? Any insight will be helpful.

    what state are you in

    how old are you

different departments have different policies, you can check department web sites, aometies they hae the disqualifiers on them.

Sometimes it is just time, and also be able to express your actions when asked, and what you have done since.

You may not get on the so called dream dept, but may be able to get on, and after a few years move to another after you show that you are committed.

Every department is different, but generally anything stronger than marijuana is either going to get you passed over initially or kicked out of the process altogether.
