The test is general knowledge..math, reading comprehension, etc. As long as you make a 70 you move on. It doesn't matter if you make a 100 or a 70, candidates are ranked solely on the interview. Its a long process, the test is usually about this time of yr and interviews won't begin 'til around August

I counted anywhere from 360 to 400. I'm floored it was so few.

I don't' mean to question you, but are you certain about this? Because I 'heard' differently, but my source was a guy I stood in line next to- so I would place any bets on it.

There were two testing times, one at 09:00 and 13:00. I saw the 13:00 group coming in as I was leaving the convention center. So at least double what you counted in the first testing time.

Here is a link to the accuplacer practice test:

Also, I called the Civil Service Department about the test scores. They said that they will not post them until next week sometime as they are a little backed up. The fire department is aware of it but they still want to make sure you get your history packet in by the deadline.

No problem....Interesting that I talked to them yesterday and they told me to be patient and wait until next week. I got my results today too. Oh well, next step in the process! Good luck!

Does anybody know the time for the CPAT practice test on May 3rd? Or is there any one who can find out?

I am from out of state and already asked recruiting and the lady said she didn't know.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure of the time... I live out of state as well... Hopefully we can practice where we live and fly out on test day.

I don't have any CPAT practice tests where I live. So, I have to take advantage of the practice test on May 3rd and will also be flying out again whenever I get my actual CPAT scheduled.

as long as you're in decent shape you shouldn't have a problem. there's videos you find online of the CPAT if you've never seen it before to give you a good idea of what you might need to work on. In my opinion, the thing a lot of ppl struggle w/ is the stair climber. The stair climber/stair-master is the very first thing you do.. you're on there 20 secs to warm up, then they bump up the speed to 60 steps per min. for 3 more mins. The whole time you're wearing a weighted vest so it gets tiring pretty quick. That being said, definitely work out your legs..

    I live in New Mexico.

And I obviously know what the CPAT is and have been training for it specifically for about a month now. I just know I'll be getting my best shot if I take advantage the practice test, that way I know where I need to improve. I don't mind making an extra out there if it can benefit
benefit me in the long hall.
