    Your title says Firefighter/EMT, but the job title is Firefighter/Medic I/II? What is a Medic I vs Medic II? Just looking for clarification.

    So if I understand that correctly if you have smoked pot only once it is an automatic disqualification??

    FF1 = Probationary Firefighter/EMT-B
    FF2 = Firefighter/EMT-B after year 1
    FF3 = Firefighter/Paramedic (EMT-I/EMT-P)

    Paramedic (and FF1/FF2, EMT) is not a requirement but I'm sure it will help set you apart in the hiring process just like in most other depts. Once you get hired you are not required to be a medic unless you want to promote to Lt. or above, but the department does over a substantial pay raise as an incentive.

    I'm not sure what they are planning this year, but when I was hired having Pro Board FF1&2 and NREMT-B or MD EMT-B basically cut your time in the academy in half.

    If hiring continues the same as it's been over the last few years you could expect to see two classes per year for the next two years or so until the next test. So my guess would be 120-160. Maybe more, maybe less.

    its plenty of people with tattoo sleeves and neck tattoos. even a few high ranking chiefs. and there is NO polygraph. so if you have smoked pot before, then what should that tell you to do if they ask you????

    How are the relations between the volunteers and the career guys currently? I heard they've been tense in the past.

    Has anyone been taking the fireteam practice tests? And has anyone in this process already passed their CPAT?

    Well guys you don't have to worry about this ff/medic I withdrew my application Friday. I have accepted a full time job with a small county dept in VA. I was going to continue with the process and see what happens but all the days conflicted with my start date. So I wish you all the best of luck!

    I got the mass emails about mandatory physical "orientation" for first week of june, and the background packet. Has anyone gotten any information on whether they were invited to the orientation? It said you "may" be invited to go if you passed the test, but haven't gotten anything in regards to results yet.

    Never checked it before, so I don't know if it changed. What does yours say?

    I got a response..... That I did not pass. Pretty amazed, first test I haven't passed. Passed AA, Fairfax, local departments.

    I also just went in for my preliminary screening this past week. There doesn't seem to be much of a rhyme or reason to the process right now. I think my screening getting scheduled was pretty random as I just got handed a form with a date/time while I was at one of the CPAT orientations.

    Yea from what I heard The county told them to speed this proccess up. Notice its all out of order then what we were originally told.. my oral board isnt until august 28th and myself and a few other guys I know havent done the screening yet either.

    They are really stretching everything out. I had my oral board back on June 19. I'm assuming we aren't going to hear anything until September or so, once they see who they have left after CPAT is all said and done.
