Default Has anyone ever had issues with there X-Ray during a Dept. medical for a Fire Job?

I am currently going through medicals for a fire job for a department in Southern California. I was told by the doctor conducting my medical that my chest X-ray has a couple of somewhat compressed discs. Has anyone on here had an issue like this come up before? Should I not worry about this or be very worried? She has requested another chest X-ray to compare to find out if its an old injury or new injury. The discs in question are t6 and t7. I have never had any back injuries before. I am 32 years old. Thanks in advance!

Have you had your back x rayed or MRI before??

Not job related but had an MRI for another reason and found some compressed stuff that was old

You should not have a problem as long as you can pass physical

Just may have a little trouble if you get hurt on the job in the future

I have had another chest X-ray actually a couple months ago. I had a pulled chest muscle they said cause I was working out a lot at the time. I passed the dept physical with ease. The dr in this case seems like she is being pushy. I'm just worried this is a make or break deal. Tha k you very much for the response.

This is a big deal. The doctor can absolutely rule that you will be a liability if you are hired. I had the same thing happen to me when I got hired many years ago. I went to a specialist and he wrote me a letter stating that there is no reason I could not be a firefighter. Up to that point I was not medically cleared.

The doctor that read your x-ray is NOT a specialist. She will defer to a specialist. Do your homework and find a doctor who will over rule her.

    Best of luck to you!
