Agreed about the FOAM it was a very uncomfortable thing to do, and if your not in the 90 band you don't stand a chance of moving on from what I hear.

Same here I thought I did a lot better than I actually did. But passing is passing I guess! 3 years ago the test was a lot easier. Now I'm just nervous to pass the physical and see how I did on my foam, and yea if your not in the 90 band chances are they won't get to you. Anybody know what the test was out of? Had to have a 60 to pass

Not sure what the test was out of I have never heard of a minimum passing score of being 60.

Probably not the YouTube video gives you a good idea on what to expect.

So, if one candidate received 99% on the written test and another candidate received 61%, both candidates are then considered equal going into the physical agility test?

Yes. You will be graded on the responses from your FOAM interview and placed in a hiring band. The written and physical agility are pass/fail only.

Well the firefighter mile is pretty intense! They have made a few changes due to the fact that most people were not passing some of the stations.

Smaller tire and shorter table for the tire strike station. The hose bundle does not have as many ties on it.. So it's not as hard to loose what hose you are on.

Blachatch I'm assuming you took the test? I took it saturday and passed all 10 events with all 10 points. The only one that was hard the blind crawl I thought. Still made me sweat my *** off, I was pretty lucky the 3 people that were with me testing as well all failed. One of them for CPR. Felt kind of bad for them. I'm guessing we will get our band results sometime early September hopefully

So say I were to have gotten an 81 on the exam and a 10/10 on the physical agility test, how are my chances looking? Does it really all hinge on the FOAM?

Yes it doesn't matter what you got on the other 2 parts.

Practice the blind crawl anyway you can and work on your legs, I passed everything with all 10 points but my legs were on fire at the end. I would suggest shorts good workout shoes and a dryfit shirt/shorts

While you are doing the mile don't worry about the next events. The only one that matters is the one your on -- if you don't pass it your done. Just stay focused on each event as you do them.

With the tire hit the top third not the bottom. With the blind crawl be physical with the hose. With the dummy drag stay low and use your legs not your back.

How would you suggest best simulating the blind crawl? Is the hose just twisted together similar to the video?

Very similar in the video, I practiced with smaller rope bc that's all I had. Make sure to go fast on the straight away and take your time in the circle. The hardest part is trying to make sure you are on the correct hose when there tied up in the bungees. I personally took the sledgehammer and put it as far as I could I front of me so I could focus on the rope

How is the rope bungeed? Just wrapped tightly around the hose so it's constricted at a point? Is it a 50' course or longer? Thanks for the input. It's a long drive for me so practice was out of the question.

Yes 50ft of hose. Bungee tied every 10ft or so. Put your sledge in front of the loop and leave it there until you come back around the loop so you can concentrate on keeping your hands on the hose.

A CFD member said today at the firefighter mile that the first class from this list will start around June of 2015.
