Let's get through 2013 AFG before we worry about 2014 1199As

I believe Kurt indicated in another thread that the Program Office said things should be rolling soon. Fingers crossed!

Computer score of 97% or higher went to Peer Review.

Wow! Not much room for not matching the computer model for passing through to peer for a good narrative story.

I hope I was in the 97% or higher! Need that compressor!

And I am sure that if my application made it to peer, the narratives would demonstrate the positive effect of the award... Hopefully we make it this year, driving around with loose cylinders to be filled is a pain!

Brian keeps talking about how competitive it's gotten. This really drives home the point. Not a lot of wiggle room there at 97%

We should start seeing 1199A's dropping very soon as the AFG is up against a deadline to get the funds awarded by Sept. 30, 2014.

Since the AFG didn't complete the process during PR the remainder of the AFG grants will be paneled next week during FP&S review.

The most plausible scenario would be 1199A's showing up for the MIcro Grants that scored high first.

Don't know about the 97% mark being the line of demarcation, in past years they've awarded into the high 80s. Just can't see where over 4000 applications scored within 3 points of perfection, computer scoring alone it isn't very likely let alone composite scoring. I'd like to think that but for the most part you have to be in the high 80s/low 90s in computer scoring to get read. I can see that range being the low mark for award too, it's been creeping up for years as applications have gotten more on point and everyone is writing better arguments.

In the end don't care what the score is as long as the funding rolls.

what parts of the application are scored in computer scoring and how does that work for an application requesting an apparatus?

Every number entered means something, same with checkboxes and dropdown menus. Anything that you have to choose gets converted to a number, so the conditions of the current equipment (old/obsolete, etc) all have numerical values to them. That's why there was a difference between marking "old/obsolete" and "damaged but usable", pick the latter and the score wasn't as high as picking the first.

How much each thing is worth no one knows exactly, I've put some nerd time into it like some others to try and see where the limits were on certain values, but the true calcs are unknown outside of the circle. That's why it's best to do the full analysis on your situation before even applying.

Anybody have any 1199A updates yet? I'm assuming since nobody is blowing up the forums I can probably answer my own question. Didn't program office say they would start the first of April? By my definition the first of April begins next Tuesday. Let them roll....

Supposedly they were going to start dropping Micro Grant 1199As yesterday, but it is a manual process meaning someone's pushing each one to show up on the fly. Old way was prime the system and do an automated batch release. Haven't been checking myself, too much work to catch up on. I've been waiting on one of y'all to pick something up and post.

a decade ago , you needed to bring your "A" game to the table.

Nowadays many of those first round awards wouldn't even make it to peer review.

Lot less funding and a lot more competition for those few dollars available.

Kurt always preached Bring your AAAA game to the app table and then improve upon it.

OK AFG I am reminded of the old cartoon of two buzzards sitting on a tree branch with one remarking to the other " Patience hell, I'm gonna kill something!" Open the floodgate and end this drought!
