Lightbulb Introduction and Safety Research Questions

    Hi everyone,

First off, I am not a firefighter, I am an industrial design student from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. My purpose here is to gain some insight for my senior thesis project which seeks to answer the question: How can I improve the safety and efficiency of first responders? The end goal for my project is to design a new product, or redesign an existing product, that will answer that that question. My personal interest and investment in firefighter safety comes from the fact that my brother is a firefighter in Pawtucket, RI. I have already learned a great deal from him for my research, but now I would like to extend my questioning to a broader and more diverse group. I put together a short survey on google that focuses on the issues of communication and orientation. The more responses I get, the stronger my final design will beÖ and if all goes well, the possibility of seeking funding for my design isn't out of the question. In fact, the ultimate goal is that my design would be actually produced and utilized. Thanks for reading and any responses to the survey would be greatly appreciated!

Feel free to add any suggestions or ask questions below

    Thanks,
    Ben

Yea absolutely... my current semester is dedicated to the research portion of the project, and then this summer I will actually work on the design portion. The final design will be done for August but it would be nice to get feedback on my designs along the way.
