Picked up a pair of FRs for commo, one not far from home which is a real happy find. Only $350k so on the small side for radios but combined budgets of the 10 departments is $160k/year. I like to hit them all but those are the ones that make me smile the most, helping overcome a seemingly impossible obstacle to keep everyone safe. Making a difference is what it's all about.

I found the one I was hoping for!

    Reference Award Number: EMW-2013-FO-04118

Is for my FD to get a breathing air compressor system. In a few months, we will not have to have empty cylinders for weeks while begging around to have a FD fill them for us!

This is great news for us after a "Close Call" in April when we had a FF trapped and very few cylinders still usable. Thanks for listening AFG!!! And, thanks for the help from the 'usual suspects' (AKA Grant Gurus here on the forum! Brian, Kurt, Sly, OneBugle and the rest)

Congrats, here's hoping it prevents another Close Call.

Happy myself after being at the TX SFFMA convention this weekend, thinking I need to go away again. Found 9 more since Friday night including an FR Commo, a large FR SCBA, and a ladder truck.

Found one for FF bailout systems at 4:15 PM that was not there at 11:30 this morning. Glad to see things moving again in Washington.

Found a odd grouping, hose, PPE, and SCBA. And another SCBA that's on the awards list, haven't been following since the password changed. Puts us over $10mil awarded and pending for 2013, hopefully more to come...

After travelling 18 hours to get back from PA ( hell could have drove this faster) I found another 4 this morning. Looks like they have been busy and from what I hear it will remain busy here for awhile.

Did first timers and FR check, found 5 total so far. Looks like they've turned on the faucet more than a drip since Friday.

Also word is that a tanker 1199A was found on Monday so there's slight truck movement.

    Gentleman,

I have been lurking for years and now I need some advice. Found an 1199A yesterday for our grant. However we had applied for two items, a compressor and exhaust capture system for both of our stations. When I went into the budget part of the grant they zero out the exhaust system and left the compressor funded as is. Is there any chance of pleading my case to get the exhaust system added back into the grant? And who would I plead my case too?

If the application has been adjusted to reflect a "zeroed out" item, it generally means that that category did not go to panel review. Since that is the case, there would be little room for argument since it wasn't reviewed for a score.

I'm going to suspect that your exhaust was cut due to sleeping quarters or occupancy issues. Modifications to Facility projects have some strict scoring guidelines. What is your occupancy and sleeping quarter situation?

Thank you for the input. Both of our stations are staffed 27/7. That was our justification for need the system. I thought I had a good narrative with mid 1990’s vintage trucks and the fact our exercise equipment and gear are all in the apparatus bays.

I also went back and looked at the application and question #8 what is the level of occupancy for the facility you wish to modify? The Full-time 24/7 box was selected.

If it's 0'd then it was either pulled by computer or by Peer, in the case of the computer the narrative wasn't even read it was just the numbers that made it not as competitive. So something in the statistical answers to the exhaust request didn't sync up.

    Default 1199a

Found an 1199A to put equipment on a small rural department's first engine. Checked Monday and found this one this afternoon.

The engine was donated and this grant should equip it from top to bottom. Their next closest engine is about 30 minutes away so this is a very big deal for them.
