Can someone remind me... if we have an 1199 with a couple of previous awards on it, do we still need to get it re-signed by the Bank and mailed in with a new award (except for the AWD #, everything is the same).????

1st timer for SCBA, Update 1199A posted sometime since 9a CST.

Tacked on an exhaust in another, and a PPE also in a 3rd. Decent pace of movement continues...

Happy to find a PPE 1199A that dropped sometime late this afternoon.

It seems odd to me that after 10 years there are still first timers out there.

We still have about 30-40 would-be first timers, some have applied 5-12 times, others this is their first application ever. With all the radios and proclaimed interoperability sometimes mutual aid departments don't talk to each other about making improvements or helping each other out with grant applications. Or in many cases, even mentioning that the grants are out there. Money makes people do things that don't always make sense.

We have a pending award for vehicle replacement when looking into it I found where one of the next steps is a confirmation of vehicle inventory? Can someone pleae explain this? I am guessing it is just a review of information inputed on the application to confirm accuracy? Or have people blatantly lied on the application to get an award in the past?

I reviewed the original 2013 presentation for awards and noticed it in there.

I'm still not quite sure what document you're referencing. Do you have a link or something you can share? I'd like to give you a good answer but want to be sure I'm understanding what you are seeing.

None of our vehicle folks had to fill anything out yet, including the already awarded ones. DHS reviews prior apps, social media, etc, to figure out if anyone's faking their inventory. In talking with a rep at FDIC they did catch someone applying for a new truck and yet on their web page is a brand new one they took delivery of after the application was submitted. Of course the app was turned down during said tech review, probably at least an email or phone call dropped to the department about lying on a federal document too....

    Page 74 has this note,

Accurate vehicle inventory is required and will be validated by
    FEMA prior to any award.

I am not concerned was just curious what it was all about.

Found a Pumper 1199a for a first timer - Rural VFD. Last time I checked was Friday evening. This will be a double award for them, equipment 1199a posted about 3 weeks ago. First double award for me.

Basically it's just what Brian eluded to. Your fleet must be legit and they will use various means to investigate and validate it. As long as you have accurate info on the application, no worries.

You're doing well to even be in line for a vehicle award -- so congrats!

This next year (2014) will be the first time my current fire department will have ever applied for an AFG, and if I had not volunteered to write it I'm not sure they would be doing it this year. Will be doing both Safety and Ops and Vehicle grants, and there is the possibility of a regional with 4 other departments as well.
