    Default USAF RIV in action.

Keep in mind this rig is replacing major crash rescue apparatus at some bases.

For once I will keep my opinion to myself until others comment.

The truly pathetic part is 2 RIVs were unable to extinguish a maximum of 46 gallons of aviation gas. Yet they are supposed to be the equivalent of a major crash piece due to hocus pocus and high pressure fog foam.

The best part is a friend of mine works as an ARFF firefighter and everytime they took those rigs out in below freezing weather they froze up the piping to the front bumper turret. I guess they winter tested in the Bahamas.

While I am sure that the Panther is a great rig, pardon my desire to have the United States military buy products made in the United States.

While the USAF is using the RIV and the Navy has a similar rig, the US Marines has ordered a modernized version of the Oshkosh P-19R. It is a bigger 6 wheel drive version of the classic P-19. This website does a good job of detailing the new P-19R. you have to navigate the website if you want to get specific details on the pump or whatever.

    here's the website! http://oshkoshdefense.com/vehicles/p-19r/

Not impressed at all. I've never liked CFR rigs with driver operated turrets, too hard to drive and aim at the same time.

Although using this tiny wannabe CFR vehicle to fight the fire seemed to be ineffective, I think the bigger issue at hand is why it took 4+ minutes for the first CFR vehicle to show up - this being an active runway at an airshow no less. Was the entire CFR force out at the hot dog stand at the time???
