Default Dry chemical in a fog stream?

Just had a car fire the other day and one of the older guys sprayed dry chem into a tight fog stream to put out flowing fuel that was burning.*It worked out real well, put it out fast and didn't seem to wash away. Has anyone heard of this, or know of any training materials that cover this?

    Pretty common technique.
Train to fight the fires you fight.
