    Default Arlington TX Fire hiring

I see the Arlington fire department has opened up. Does any know or have a rough idea how many they may be hiring?

I hear quite a few firefighters could retire if they wanted but of course, that's just what I've heard over the grapevine

We have been continually hiring 15-30 every year to keep up with the 25-35yr guys who were all hired in the 80's retiring. I got hired in back in 2011, and so thankful I landed here. We only run Fire Trucks, so no ambulance, but we still run on all the important EMS calls with AMR. Anyone can apply, no age limit or certification needed, if you are a good candidate they will cover all your training, as I did when I got hired. Registration for the written exam ends by Aug 18th. I know there is a $50 fee to register, but if you are seriously interested its well worth it. Its been getting Hot in Arlington as of late too, quite a few good in the last couple weeks. Good luck to anyone applying!

Is the IO solutions study guide the best one for the test?

Yes, seems like IO solutions is the one they have been going with. Probably 1/3 reading comprehension, 1/3 math, and 1/3 personality questions. From my experience, the personality questions is what separate most people on the test from an ok score to a high score

Yeah, I've taken the Ft worth test, and that seemed to be the same. Its the math that always gets me.

I agree with killedk, Arlington is a great department. If you want to work with a great group of men and women, and learn from some of the best, then Arlington is the place for you. We run a lot of good calls, both fire and EMS. I've heard that we are hiring approximately 20. Some people complain about the cost of the test, but trust me, will be the best $50 bucks you've ever spent!

Should have said emt should help during interview

Unless you are going for a big dept, with paramedic why do you want to compete against a thousand or so?? When you can hit a dept that requires P and compete against a few

Don't have to answer that where everyone can see

There will be one medically certified class that just does fire academy and one class that goes through medical and fire training. http://www.arlington-tx.gov/fire/employment-recruiting/

    It's called fireprep.com
I think it's just their general study guide. You can get the gold package that comes with more practice questions.

Well, test was last night. Anybody else take it? And if so, how do you feel? Not nearly as many people as I expected; good turn out but they were far short of the 2000 limit. Good luck to everyone out there.

The arlington fire twitter said close to 900 showed up to take the test . Don't know how accurate that is. I took the test as well and felt pretty good about it. Had only taken it once before.
