Default Seeking replacement pumper after station burns

As you may have heard, Mt. Eden VFD in Kentucky lost their main station and four vehicles in a fire last week. This really hit home with me because I grew up near there and began as a volunteer with a neighboring department. I've made a number of mutual aid calls with Mt. Eden.

Anyway, the good news is that their insurance is very good and they've already begun the process of purchasing a demo tanker to replace the one they lost. Their brush truck was owned by the county and it has already been replaced. That leaves their SUV and their pumper to deal with.

I talked with two of their guys last week. Right now they believe the insurance will pay about $80,000 for the pumper. They are familiar with the dealers, brokers, auction sites, etc. online to shop, but because many rigs are sold outside these processes, I thought I'd get their name out there if any of you are taking bids or otherwise disposing of pumpers.

In terms of specs, the unit they lost was a 1991 HME/Grumman 1500/1000 pumper. A new(er) truck would probably need a nice big booster tank, since they are a rural department.

So if anybody has a lead on a nice unit within a reasonable distance of the Louisville, KY area, please PM me with contact info.

    Thanks!

Firetec has quite a few listed later model pumpers in their price range.
They are a listing broker for fire depts.
they are listed from all over the country.

Thanks. I'm going to double-check and make sure they're familiar with my list of usual suspects, which in addition to Firetec includes Fenton, Brindlee Mountain, Ten-8, Company Two, Jon's Mid-America, BP, Bradford Tri-County, Command, and some others.

Not real local, but my sister company in town is getting rid of an old engine right now, listed on GovDeals. We "should" be letting go of an engine right before summer 2015.

Our 1250/1000 KME (1993) is being advertised right now - but we're in northern NY. Still in service, until its replacement arrives at the beginning of September.

Are you talking about the one in Dennisville?

Our tanker should be going up on gov deals soon. It's actually a pumper-tanker that we used to run as our first line engine.

I'll pass it on. I'm not sure the Mt. Eden zip code is big enough for that tandem monster though... ;-)

Looking at their rescue truck, I think it's fair to say that size matters in the SLVFD.

We have a 1997 Luverne Commander IV Pumper for sell at a very reasonable price.

Honestly, don't start this crap in a thread intended to help a fire department in need. Bob was just commenting on what big apparatus they have out there. Me too. Living in the mountains, I can't use big trucks like that. Let's focus on finding a pumper for Mt. Eden.
