I'm not sure of exact numbers, they are talking about hiring 2 classes off the list. Class sizes range between 10-25, first class would start spring/summer time frame. We are opening a new Engine company around the first of the year.

I just applied, and it says EMT-B (State or National Registry), Military, and College degree holders will be given preference. I would imagine its safe to say that your ALS cert is a good thing to have :-) Good luck man, hope to see you at testing.

From what I've heard this is an excellent department so I'm really eager to get started with the process. Does anyone know how many people they are looking to pick up compared to how many are expected to show up to testing?

There will be two schools hired off this list, one starting in July the other next January. The number of hires is always changing with retirements, we have a new station opening in February which is 12 additional positions. Im not sure of the exact number of applicants, figure over 1000.

Hey, Was wondering what kind of EMS requirements Chesterfield requires of their new hires? Are ALS certifications required after a certain amount of time or is EMT-B the highest that is required?

I believe just BLS is required dont think they make you get ALS cert. Unless they have changed something recently

Hope everyone who has tested so far is confident with their efforts. I wont give any details but it was largely focused on interpersonal skills and personality.

Yep. I really like how they are so squared away with testing. This is the first department I've seen that gives out actual raw scores of your test results.

Hope everyone is confident with their written test results. If not, keep pushing forward!

Cutoff for the written exam is a score of 80!
