One station here in Maumelle, AR.

However, we've got blueprints for a second and the promise of ground-breaking sometime this summer.

Houston has five stations. I've ranked them in order of importance. They will say there are eighty or so, but those are really just carboard models with power wheels parked in the bays.

A lot of Chiefs..... You better feel sorry for the Guys in LFB.... much smaller than FDNY but literally hundreds of Chiefs....

200 ADO's (Batt Chiefs) one for each Station as Station Commander then dozens more at HQ, Training, Fire Safety and various other project groups.

About 80 odd DO's (Dep Chiefs) 33 as Borough Commanders the remainder at HQ etc

About 18 Deputy Asst Comm's (Dep Asst Chiefs) 4 as Area Commanders, the remainder as various Department heads or seconded to UK Government.

6 Asst Comm's (Asst Chief of Depts) These are heads of directorates such as Training, Fire Safety, Policy etc

1 Deputy Comm (No FDNY Equivalent) Head of Operations and No 2of LFB

    1 Commissioner* (Chief of Dept)

*All 4 Commissioner Ranks from DAC to the Boss himself are Uniformed Firefighters promoted thrpoug the ranks...not Commissioners in the NYC political sense. Our Political structure is made up of a Chair, Deputy Chair and several other elected councillors from the London Assembly working for the Mayor.

Many of my FDNY colleagues who are (or were as most have retired) in the Chief ranks have always been amazed at how many of us there are in LFB which is probably only around 65% the size of FDNY

Management is making sure things are done right. Leadership is doing the right thing. The fire service needs alot more leaders and a lot less managers.

"Everyone goes home" is the mantra for the pussification of the modern, American fire service.

Comments made are my own. They do not represent the official position or opinion of the Fire Department or the City for which I am employed. In fact, they are normally exactly the opposite.

No, just trying to show that there is really a search feature, and that it does indeed work.
