Post Fast team operation For mutual aid

our town has no designated fast team when called for mutual aid, we have four different companies and the first one with four FF goes to the mutual aid call. A few of us from all four companies have had some special fast training, but we dont go to the calls together. what do your towns do?

Our town has 6 companies and we use 2 or 3 neighboring towns pretty often for MA. The Chiefs designate who the FAST is on their run card. Our initial response has 2 members of the first engine and first truck assigned to outside duties to ensure we are in compliance, working fire gets an automatic response of a FAST company from mutual aid. When we run FAST mutual aid, the officer is directed to make sure he has a solid crew with enough experience to get the job done. As far as specialized training goes, good interior firefighters should be able to fill the role with very little specialized training, we already trust them to go in and get civilians! You might want to consider getting your 4 companies together for at least an intro to FAST and discuss some specialized training as a group. Email me if you want more info.

We have the same specific mutual aid company assigned to FAST on every working job. To be our FAST team we require this company to meet or exceed all requirement we set for our own FAST team. The requirement are minimum three years interior fire fighting experience and have completed a department recognized FAST training course. We also train with our FAST company.
