I would like to find out what some of the pro's and cons are of using a water thief on 2 1/2" hose.
My department is considering this, due to several buildings in the response district being several hundred feet from the street. In addition to several industrial buildings without stand pipes or sprinklers.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Our engines carry 200' of 3" line with a gated wye (called a leader line), to be used along with our high rise packs for just those situations. They also come in handy for large fires in brushy areas, where a simple booster line won't cut it. They are great for defensive tactics where lines must be stretched to the rear, that'll give you the ability to use multiple lines for attack and exposures.
