I'm trying to find out how many departments consider station boots to be PPE's and are provided by the department or if you are reimbursed for your boots by you department. This is an issue that is going to come up in our department real soon.
Stay low and safe,

By contract, all of our turnout gear (department issue helmet, coat, pants, boots, hood etc.) is provided by the city.
Station uniforms (shirts, pants, shoes/boots, etc.) are purchased via clothing allowance. We get $675 a year for this purpose. We can also use the clothing allowance to purchase other fire related items (flashlights, leatherman tools, upgrades to PPE etc. I just bought a Cairns N6A leather lid with mine!)
