I'm curious as to the make-up of everyone's personal search rope (length, type of rope, clips/loops at the end), and the reasoning behind the choices. I'm sure there are as many different ropes as firefighters. Does anyone's department have minimum standards for these ropes, or are they strictly "personal" gear?
Take care & stay safe!

Mine is 3/8" by 12' long with carribeners on each end in case I need to self-repell to the floor below if the fire is licking at my butt.

Personal search extension ropes are attached to the SCBA, 3/8" nylon, 50' long. Basically hardware store stuff. Escape lines are a personal item and are generally in the area of 40-60 feet of small diameter rated rescue rope with a locking carabiner or something similar.
