Constant gallonage (hope I got the right term) combination fog nozzle w/an intergrated smoothbore. Wide, narrow, straight fog; smooth bore; or both.
With 7/8" smoothbore, 50psi nozzle pressure:
95gpm FOG, 158 Smooth, Both (like straight fog & smooth bore together...) 218gpm. Got a good crew, could do 300gpm or better @ 100psi.

(and yes, damn, we just bought some new TFTs which really work well for us but I would've loved to get one of these to try!)

The VIT has the smooth bore insert and allows you to get the fog tip you want. If you like turbo jet then why not one that has stainless steel teeth and a 5 year warranty as opposed to a turbo jet tip that comes with spare teeth because they know you will break em. Or you can go with the TFT MID-Matic Tip only and get high pressure/low pressure gallonage. Go to the link..check it out. All TFT Nozzles have a 45 year warranty and if you return them to the factory once in that 5 years...(say at 4 yrs 8 months...) for maintenance...when it returns to you...the warrant starts all over...hence...if you play the game...lifetime warranty.09-11 .. 343 "All Gave Some..Some Gave ALL" God Bless..R.I.P.

Problem with a breakable tip like the VIT is you still have to shut down, unscrew the fog or screw on the fog. But I do like having seperate nozzle & shutoff.
Looks like the Akron is just an adjustment.
