If you are still in the grieving stage of 9-11, this post is not for you. But if you are ready to move on and act like rough and tumble fireman then feel free to scroll down and enjoy another useless post from dear ole me.
Ok, glad you made it. And I dont wanna hear any crap about "this isn't the time" or "you heartless piece of corn poopie" cause I already gave a disclaimer. Anyway, its 3am and Im up .....and Im drinkin...again....and I would like to discuss something. And since I can't call any of my friends cause they are all married and asleep, you have to read about it here. And then write something back. Cause I dont like talking to myself. So dont make me feel stupid! Anyway, here goes. At the risk of sounding like a woo-woo or a ricky responder....what song do you sing in your head while you are fighting a big *** house fire? (see I told you it was useless). I used to squirt water to the beat of "Enter The Sandman" by Metallica but I heard a song last shift driving back to the house from a damn 45 minute transport that will forever be "my house fire song". And yes we have CD players and radio in our medics. But dont tell the chief, he thinks the extra 200 bucks was for an onboard suction unit. Anyway, maybe you've heard of it, maybe you have'nt. Here is the link to the MP3. www.drowningpool.com (click on 'audio' then click on the MP3 thing for 'bodies'). It isn't very Kosher considering what just happened....But oh my God it makes me want to pull sheet rock with my teeth and bust through doors with my head. It is also the song I would play over the loud speakers of a tank rolling through the streets of 'whatever-astan' (since we dont really know which -astan to freaking nuke....I say hit em all...but then agian....Im a biggot-astan). Anyway, if you havent heard it yet and you are into the heavy metal crap, check it out. If not, Ive just wasted 3 minutes of your life and for that I am really sorry.

Waterboy620, I heard a song from the Temple of the Dog, it goes, "I don't mind, stealing bread, from the mouth of decadence....". I liked the acoustic guitar but haven't quite got the drift of where the songwriter was coming from. Anyway, I caught myself humming that once while fighting a fire. Couldn't get it out of my head.
I'm a firefighter/chaplain and available to any FD member and their families, so if you'd like to vent or anything, my e-mail is fmusic@avolve.net (I play 12 string guitar). I agree with moving on...we got work to do!See you on the big one!
Billy Reiter 1st Lieutenant/Chaplain available 24 7

Another point for Drowning pool, even though radio stations around here aren't allowed to play it in light of the recent tragedy. Disturbed's "Down with the sickness" can make the big one go by.

Been a while since I was at a working structure fire, so do MVAs count?
If so, here are my two:
"Highway to hell" by AC/DC
"Paint it Black" by The Rolling Stones
Rock and Roll.

I would have to say Hell's Bells by AC/DC or something similar...of course, our local rock station did some crazy songs afer 9/11 that have been stuck in my head.
one is to the melody of "Daylight come and me wanna go home"
"Come Mr. Taliban, hand over Bin Laden
Daylight come and we drop da bomb
said 6 bomb, 7 bomb, 8 bomb, gone!
Daylight come and we drop da bomb"Angie

Yea that song rocks..ONE NOTHING WRONG WITH ME...TWO NOTHING WRONG WITH ME......I often get STP (stone temple pilots for those not familiar) songs stuck in my head like "Wicked Garden"...or "Plush". Those songs rock and make me want to get crazy on that fire and rip stuff apart.
Never forget those who went before and sacrified to make us better and stronger as a fire service and a nation. 09-11-01 forever etched in time and our memories. God Speed Boys!

Okay. that song has just been in my head for 2 days now!!!
I am making a video to it right now (i'll try to post it somewhere when I'm done)
The video starts out saying....
Taliban and Bin Laden...
the time has come to:
and the song starts.
Footage of bin laden with bullets in his picture... missiles and bombs. explosions, lots of death and mayhem!!
So far it's pretty cool!
Thanks for the song man!Be safe brothers

Hey LT13, I certainly remember the Doobie Bros., I still have a couple of their 8 tracks. And you have given me new song material to kill the beast with next time...."Jesus is just alright with me". I was watching the Avalanche and Penguins last night and a advertisement for a new compilation of Doobie songs is on CD for sale. So you might want to check that out.
Take care!See you on the big one!
Billy Reiter 1st Lieutenant/Chaplain available 24 7

Scott you have to send me the video when you get finished. Our department clowns (the real ones...with the big shoes and funny noses....no not the chiefs....you know, the fire safety clowns...anyway) were testing the new sound system for their safety skit for open house and they asked if anyone had a CD at the station. So.....I stolled out to the medic and hit eject on the CD player.....handed it to him and told him it was country. He cranked it up and ........"let the bodies hit the floor....let the bodies hit the floor...." Man it sounded good pounding through the halls of the fire house. They are going to use it for their "stop, drop and roll skit". Get it...bodies hit the floor...stop drop and roll...hehe heheh. Ok Im a liar. They didnt like it. Thanks for participating in my effort to get on with life. I know I feel better.
