Does anyone know where to get these things. I have seen them advertised in magazines but can not find them anywhere. I'm in northern Virginia.

Matt -
I ordered one yesterday from an online toy store called smallblueplanet.com. Price was $33.09, including shipping, which seems to be a fair amount less than what they are selling for on ebay. Only downside is that it is on backorder and no time for delivery is listed. Hope this helps.

I saw one in Target the other day so I would assume they will be fairly distributed widely to retailers, price was 24.95. I have to say that it looks quite nice and much better than the one offered by other dealers like 21st Century.

I actually got mine about 3 years ago for father's day. I saw it on a late night show, it was presented by the man who originate the G.I. Joe doll. I can't remember the phone number, but mine was purchased direct from the manufacturer.

No, that was the older "Inferno" Joe they put out a few years ago, this is a new one with a Thermal Imaging Camera (A Bullard).
For a picture here is the link to Smal Blue Planets page for it (though it does not have the Camera in hand it is in the discreption)

I got mine at KayBee toys last spring. We play "confined space rescue" with ours as a way to practice knots and pulley systems. There's also an "Action Man" one (I think that's the brand) that crawls and has a much better SCBA and face mask.
Now we are looking for a GI Joe M*A*S*H unit nurse (female) that I saw, but couldn't afford at the time, in FAO Schwartz.

My wife walked into WalMart the other day and bought three of them, one for me and one for each of my youngest sons, all three have different colored hair. He joined my older GI Joe, 21st Century Toys Urban FF, and my wildland FF on the bookshelf.

For the action figure collectors out there- The most realistic doll to date, by far, is the "TOP JAKE", by ERTL Collectibles, Inc. You may have seen them- They are modeled after FDNY Firefighters, including black, tails-style turnout gear; with real lime-green reflexite striping, leather-style helmets, true-to-life scott 4.5 bottle, harness and mask, and also come with an FDNY style radio and harness with speaker/mike attachment. They also come with a section of 2.5 hose, a halligan and a flathead. You can customize the helmet with an included decal set, to reflect any company you want by detailing the helmet to the appropriate company colors/numbers. It also comes with a stand to display your figure. They are extremely hard to find in stores, but they appear regularly on EBAY. The average price I have seen them go for is anywhere from 50-80 dollars. Well worth the price, for the most realistically detailed firefighter action figure!!!
Another good one, but doesnt come close to TOP JAKE, is the firefighter doll made by 21st Century Toys. It is called "America's Finest." You may have seen 21st products in KayBee or R' Us- they are the producers of the WWII line of dolls that was released last year and has become extremely popular.FTM-PTB-EGH-RFB

Mom forgot to mention Hasbro's site-- http://www.hasbro.com . Also, I thought that those CO2 cylinders from paintball guns would make good SCBAs.

Has anyone checked out the FF doll at www.nyfirestore.com? i bought one a few months ago and it is pretty cool! it is a NY style FF with black gear, nomex hood,Scott 4.5,haligan,and flat head axe. Also, it come s with stickers for the leather style helmet.
Now, if i could keep the kids from playing with it.....
