Not sure who makes it, but I used to have one in my old house that had a strobe light built into it in addition to the wail. Very similar to the commercial grade fire alarms

CONTACT THE RALEIGH NC FIRE FIGHTERS UNION THEY ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON A PROJECT TO DISTRIBUTE SIMILAR SMOKE DETECTORS AS A PART OF THEIR PUBLIC SERVICE PROJECT THIS YEAR. HERE IS A LINK TO THEIR NAMES AND NUMBERS. http://www.pffnc.org/directory.htm#RAL
