Hello. My name is Wendy. I am wondering if there is some type of National Organization for Firefighters? Read below for some background.
My dad is an army veteran and is on the Board of Directors for the National Veterans Foundation. Although he is an automobile stuntman by profession, he does lots of fund raising events for the NVF and other charities. His latest project is to put together a proposal for a law that would provide tax cuts to firefighters, police and military personnel who have been decorated for valor.
I am trying help him with research. In order to put together such a proposal, we need to try and find out how many people would qualify for such a tax cut. In other words, how many firefighters who have been decorated for valor are there out there (or widows)?
Any information or assistance is greatly appreciated!

The two main organizations that firefighters belong to are the International Association of Fire Fighters, representing career firefighters in the United States and Canada and the National Volunteer Fire Council, which
represents the interests of the paid on call and volunteer firefighters in the United States (I'm not sure about Canada.)
Some career firefighters may be affiliated with the Teamsters, the National Organization of Government Employees (NAGE) or the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
I hope this helps!
