Hello Everyone,
I am currently a volly in California, But I am moving to Montana to go to Paramedic school here in a month. Eventually I would like to work in Haz Mat area of the fire dept. How do I go about doing this? Where is the best school? Does the NFA offer this training?
Thanks

The NFA offers some great training. Our department requires 3 of these classes before considering employees for promotion to the Haz Mat Team. The following are all NFA Classes:
Chemistry of Hazardous Materials (80 hours)
Hazardous Materials On-Site Practices (80)
Hazardous Materials Incident Management (40)
They also have a good Advance Life Support for Haz Mat.
These classes are offered around the country check the NFA web site for info on Location and acceptance.
Good Luck

Transportation Test Center in Pueblo, Co. has an excellent Hazmat School. It is a little pricey(I think like a little over $2000 for an 80 hour tech course) but it you do all hands on and on your final day there is a wrecked train that the whole class will conduct an incident on. Check out the website www.hazmattraining.com

Do you know if the certification is accepted around the country?
