While I agree with almost every aspect of this particular scenario, I must STRONGLY disagree with the inclusion of the guy wire/ cable as part of the vehicle stabilization.

I base my opinion on the following;

1. What was the condition of the cable and
pole prior to the accident.

2. What is the condition of the cable and
pole after the accident? Especially the
areas that you can not visibly inspect,
such as the top of the pole where the
cable attaches to the pole. Also the
portion of the pole that is buried in the
ground.

3. Is the vehicle actually stabilized by the
cable or is it just resting firmly on
the ground against the cable?

4. Based on BTLS protocalls, does the pt's
condition rapid extricationor can we
stay and play? If we need to do a rapid
extrication, then I MIGHT be inclined to
include the cable.

Just toooo many variables involved to use the cable.
