I wish Firehouse Magazine would do an in depth study/article on FLSA Compliance in the fire service. Particularly for combination departments. I have put many frustrating hours into researching how particular rulings affect different agencies, finding in the process just how complicated it is. It would be interesting to see just how many departments out there are compliant or even care one way or the other. Most I have found are more than satisfied to not only turn their head, but to insure ignorance by sticking it in the sand. I would be more than willing to contribute to this endeavour.
