Good morning, this is District 4 Fire Chief Will Jones, Cincinnati
Fire Division, reporting on a two alarm fire on 1/1/99 at 1104
Laidlaw Ave. in the Bond Hill neighborhood at 9:25 PM. Arriving
fire fighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the first and
second floor of a two story, frame, single family dwelling. Fire
fighters made a quick attack on the fire. An extra alarm was called
in due to the amount of fire and the bitter cold weather conditions.
The building sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.

The loss is estimated at $130,000. There were no injuries to fire
fighters or occupants. No one was at home when the fire started.
A mother and two children were displaced by the fire and assisted
by the Red Cross with emergency shelter. The cause is under
investigation. Ten fire companies with 40 fire fighters were used to
extinguish the blaze. Fire fighters remained on the scene for 5.5
hours.
