Ice Storm caused a rash of violent accidents

Saturday evening in the suburbs of Philadelphia, proved to be very interesting. Engine 10 from the Willow Grove Fire Company was dispatched to the PA Turnpike westbound at mm 338.2 for a reported auto extrication. When the engine signed on, communications advised that a trooper was on scene doing CPR. Road conditions prohibited the units from exceeding 25 mph. The Fort Washington Fire Company which was dispatched to respond Eastbound found an opening in a fence and assisted the trooper with CPR and First Aid. The victim was driving a newer model pick-up truck and flipped it over, landing directly on the guardrail. The truck was crushed right down the middle. No extrication was needed as the pt was grabbed out by the Troopers so they could start CPR. The pt. was still in cardiac arrest when being transported to the Abington Memorial Hospital Trauma Center, by the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad. The pt was a male in his mid thirties, his condition did not look favorable.
