Monday, January 11, the Peach County, GA Fire Department was dispatched to an industrial fire involving one building of a textile plant. The first due engine's response time was less than one minute. Upon arrival, flames were visible from the Northwest corner of the building. Assistance from Fort Valley city's 100' aerial and an additional engine was requested immediately. However, the fire was controlled without the use of the either city truck in under 15 minutes. Damage to the building (which had an operating sprinkler system) was estimated at $400,000. City firefighters were released shortly after arrival and the incident was handled with four of the county's pumpers, four service trucks, and a 6000 gal super tanker brought in for water system back-up.
