The Ridge Fire Department (Suffolk County, Long Island, New York) activated for a water rescue, further details indicated a vehicle into the water. Responding units Engine 7 (with water rescue equipment), Rescue 4, Ambulances 16 & 17, Chief 30. Vehicle was fully submerged, upside down, approximately 25 feet out and 10 feet down, could not be seen from the road. Lone 17 year old female occupant was out upon arrival, transported to hospital for exposure. Three firefighters with dry-suits sent in to check vehicle and to hook winch cable. Operations led by Chief Campo assisted by Captains Ian Wood and Michael Gianmugnai. Firefighters in the water were Jeff Berman, Brian Nowak and Dave Amon (Proud member of E317 FDNY). All units took up by 09:10. I took pictures at the scene, but they are not developed yet, probably not very newsworthy though, due to occupant out upon arrival (One very lucky girl, if someone didn't see her go in, she probably wouldn't have been found for a long time). The vehicle was a late model Toyota Celica.
