A fire in a single family house claimed the life of the homeowner who was bedridden. A firefighter who lived next door and the first arriving police units tried, to no avail, to get the homeowner out. They were beaten back by heavy smoke and flames. First arriving fire units conducted primary searches and extinguished the fire. The victim was found in the fire room by the first hose team, while the rest of teams conducted searches throughout the rest of the two-story dwelling.
