San Diego Fire Fighters were involved in a MCI after a high speed chase by California Highway Patrol ends in a MVA. A stolen pickup truck was spotted by CHP Officers shortly after 11pm and a pursuit ensued with speeds up to 100 mph. The chase finally ended when the stolen vehicle rear-ended a van carrying 11 Marines from Camp Pendelton, who were on "liberty".The van was severly overloaded with several passengers riding in the rear luggage area of the van. It is estimated the collision occurred at speeds around 50 mph. It took San Diego Firefighters 90 minutes to extricate all of the passengers. A total of 7 patients were transported, including the driver of the stolen vehicle, who attempted to escape. 1 Marine died, driver is critical
