Th efire was actually in Stanford Heights and was reported sometime after 10:00am. Heavy Black smoke was reported on arrival and a signal 30 (working fire)quickly issued.
Shortly after a CFR truck from Albany County airport was requested (initially as a possible foam supply). Various departments were requested on the initial alarm and subsequent signal.
Water supply was a problem and resulted in many hundres of feet of (4") supply hose being laid. A 1400+ feet run of 5", drafting (_very_ unusal for suburban Albany) and drop tanks/tankers from Schenectady and Albany County.
The bulk of the fire was extingusihed late friday evening with overhaul continuing in to Sunday. As of Tuesday morning no cause had been cited, losses were thought to be about $2 million. A firewall prevented the fire spreading in to an adjoining moval companies storage area.
It has been reported that there were 16 companies involved. Ones that I know of (including cover companies) are:
Fuller Road, Latham, Maplewood, Menands, Midway, Shaker Road Loudonville, Stanford Heights, Verdoy, West Albany, Albany County Airport, Carmen, Fort Hunter, South Schenecatady, Niskayuna 1 & 2, Stratton ANG, GE Selkirk, GE Waterford.
