A 2 story single family dwelling was destroyed by fire early Sat. morning, February 13th. Crosby firefighters received the call at 1:44 a.m. Saturday morning. Asst. chief Russell White was first to arrive and reported heavy fire visible. Due to the rural location of the structure, mutual aid for tankers was called almost immediately. Highlands, Huffman, and Sheldon each supplied a tanker. Crosby had a 2500 gallon tanker, 2 pumpers, and a rescue/cascade truck. Houston Fire Dept. also sent Eng. co. 65 for manpower at command's request. despite firefighters efforts, the house was a complete loss. the fire was tapped out at approximately 4:50 a.m. The cause of the fire was ruled to be a space heater next to a wicker basket. There were no injuries.
